A New Half Term – June 2019
Starting a new half term in school can be upsetting for some children as it is a change in the routine they have developed for the past week. Using routines throughout the day: meeting and greeting key workers, self registering and putting on name badges, free exploration until group time at 9.30 (ish) is a way of making children feel comfortable and familiar in our nursery school. We also have ‘continuous provision’, which means that the children get used to the kind of learning opportunities available to them in different zones of the environment.
With this in mind, the children have all settled in school well this morning. The materials they chose to use in the art room enabled a group of them to collaborate on a large collage art work. Others investigated some new objects put in place during the holiday. The dialogue between the children was rich with ideas and stories of what they had done recently and what they wanted to do.
