Sorting, Arranging & Counting

Sorting, Arranging & Counting

When the children explore the natural materials and provocations that encourage placement, they are not only gaining vital information about materials, textures, shape and volume but also thinking about sequences and amounts, which allows them to use their knowledge of numbers.

Once the discussions about numbers have begun the number cards are offered into the scenario and taken on by the children to answer their own challenges.

Adding challenge into creative play enables the children to further their own learning and provides new personalised focus for investigation.
